For racing fans, summertime means an exciting and jam-packed schedule over at the legendary Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca along the Monterey-Salinas Highway, an easy (and comparatively slow-paced) trip from the Monte Verde Inn.
Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix
From July 19 to the 21, the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix includes one of the exhilarating MotoGP World Championship races, where you'll enjoy the edge-of-your-seat spectacle of the most accomplished and daring motorcyclists from around the globe competing against one another on a challenging track. This year a trio of American riders--Nicky Hayden, Colin Edwards, and Ben Spies--will match themselves against premier rivals such as Jorge Lorenzo of Spain, the reigning MotoGP World Champion.
The MotoGP race occurs on Sunday, July 21; Saturday's event is the AMA SuperSport and Sunday's is the Daytona SportBike and National Guard Superbike.
Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion
Fans of vintage automobiles who also enjoy the drama of the racetrack have a dream combination in the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, one of the highlights of the outstanding Classic Car Week on the Monterey Peninsula. Held from August 16 to August 18 this year, the Reunion allows authentic old-school race cars to take to the track in an unforgettable exhibition: history, style, and nail-biting competition all rolled into one fabulous showcase. Each year a particular brand is specially honored; this time around, the featured marque is the incomparable Chevrolet Corvette.
Continental Tire Sports Car Festival
On the weekend of September 7-8, racing fanatics have another major event to gear up for at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca: the Continental Tire Sports Car Festival. The centerpiece is the Rolex Sports Car Series on Sunday, which affords a unique opportunity to ogle over freshly minted, top-shelf sports cars turned out by the finest manufacturers on the planet and featuring the latest in racing technology. The festivities also include the Star Mazda and USF 2000 races.
FIM Superbike World Championship
This year, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hosts the only U.S. stop of the FIM Superbike World Championship series between September 27 and 29. This is your chance to see top-tier international riders battling it out on cutting-edge motorcycles of the kind hitting the showroom floors. It doesn't get more intense.
Four elite events, one spectacular facility: Come by Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for some tire-screeching, dust-raising action this summer! We're happy to host you at the Monte Verde Inn.
