Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours on the Avenue
August 12, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Ocean Avenue, Carmel
No tickets required. Open to the public.
The Carmel Concours on the Avenue is a premier rare and exotic car and motorcycle concours held annually. This year is the 8th year for the event. Vehicles are on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Ocean Avenue and judging in many categories, including the prized “Best of Show” will be in the afternoon. Over 175 cars will be on display. Proceeds from the concours benefit The Carmel Foundation and its programs and services to Monterey Peninsula seniors.
McCall MotorWorks Revival
The 23rd annual McCall MotorWorks unofficially kicks off August’s “Monterey Car Week”, featuring an A-list crowd of around 2500 guests, top luxury brands, historic motorcycles, planes, and exotic cars, gourmet food and wines in a relaxed, fun, atmosphere of celebration. The event is a major contributor to the CHP 11-99 Foundation which supports California Highway Patrol and their families. Three levels of tickets are available.
Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance

Where: Cars on display at Ocean Avenue, Carmel from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. (open to public and free admission)
The Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance is parade of exotic, luxurious, rare marvels of auto and motorcycle engineering and is the pre-cursor event of the Concours d’Elegance featuring nearly 200 vehicles. The tour starts at Pebble Beach’s Collin Field and drives part of 17-Mile Drive, then over to the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, rolling into Carmel for public viewing at around noon. The tour is a chance for the public to see these amazing vehicles up-close in historic and picturesque Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Established and run annually since 1985, the Concorso Italiano features nearly 1000 vehicles of Italian origin. A blend of Italian-car enthusiasts, fashion, music and fun for the whole family make this event a one-of-a-kind auto inspirational celebration.
Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
Take 200 rare, collector, rare, vintage cars and motorcycles, the proud folks who own them, restored them and baby them, and enthusiasts and novice who love their beauty, elegance, style and flare, mix with great scenery and sunshine (hopefully) and what do you have? Why the Concours d’Elegance of course. Since 1950, the concours has invited its annual entrants, owners of rare and exotic cars, to participate in the judged concours. To date, the annual event has raised around 16 million dollars for local charitable organizations.
Monterey Jazz Festival

The 57th annual Monterey Jazz Festival runs for three nights and two days beginning September 19, 2014. This year’s festival hosts 500 artists at two main venues: 14 bands in 5 shows at the Monterey Jazz Festival Arena, and 78 shows on 7 Monterey Fair Grounds stages (3 outdoor stages and 4 indoor stages). Arena artists include: Herbie Hancock, a musician who crosses genres, leading and influencing them all. The 14-time Grammy winner and Kennedy Center Honoree’s contribution to American music is undeniable. Come see the legend; and sage sax-heavy hitter Charles Lloyd. Lloyd was born in Memphis and influenced by the rich musical tapestry the city offers. He began playing sax at 9 and from the age 12 was a working sideman.
Carmel Poodle Day
The Fifth Annual Carmel Poodle Day is an event that benefits NorCal Poodle Rescue. This fun-filled day for poodles, their human companions and dog lovers in general features a poodle parade, off-leash poodle fun on the beach and a poodle mixer. In the evening, owners and their poodles can unwind in style at cocktail parties where poodles and their humans can socialize and sip.
Carmel Mission Fiesta
September 28, 2014 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Where: Rio Road and Lasuen Drive
The 50th annual Carmel Mission Fiesta is a tradition of food, fun, laughter and music for the whole family. Bring the family and enjoy BBQ, Mexican food, tasty desserts, and crafts of local artisans. Proceeds benefit the Mission’s Junipero Serra School.
Taste of Carmel
A Taste of Carmel is an annual celebration of the bohemian culture that makes Carmel what it is. The event features local food, wine, music, outdoor activities, and a silent auction showcasing the offerings of Carmel restaurants, inns and shops.
Carmel International Film Festival
The 6th Annual Carmel International Film Festival is five days of film premieres, leading artists and filmmakers. The event takes place at several Carmel locations. In addition to film, the festival features art, photography and an eclectic mix of live music from local and emerging musicians. The festival supports several local and area charities and provides several scholarships to established and up-and-coming art and film students.
Annual Carmel Sandcastle Contest
October 19, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Carmel Beach south of 10th Avenue
The 54th Annual Sandcastle contest is an exciting, fun, community tradition open to the public. Sandcastle enthusiasts and artists showcase the art, craft, and architecture of building sand structures of whimsy, and imagination, creating magic marvels of sand construction and engineering. Building starts in the morning with judging from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Carmel City Birthday Party and Parade
October 25, 2014. Parade at 11 a.m. Lunch at noon.
Where: Ocean Avenue (parade). Lunch as Sunset Center.
Come celebrate Carmel's 98th birthday! Although Carmel was founded in 1902, it became an incorporated city on Halloween day in 1916 – Carmel’s official birthday. It’s fitting that the city’s birthday celebration includes a Halloween-inspired parade. Watch the parade or wear a costume and be a part of it. After the parade, come to Sunset Center (San Carlos between 9th and 10th avenues) and enjoy a hot dog lunch with other treats like ice cream and birthday cake.
Veterans Day Ceremony
November 11 at 11 a.m.
Where: Devendorf Park
Come and honor American veterans and who have served our country. Sponsored by the Carmel chapter of the American Legion.
November 22, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The 44th Annual Homecrafters Marketplace features craft and art of local artisans and crafts people.
